SIlver Falls: North Falls Hike

On our last morning, we took another hike to North Falls and Upper North Falls, making four of ten falls.

Owen woke up at 8:00! Sleeping in! I suppose all the walking the day before caught up a little.
Penguin helped Owen get ready for a pancake breakfast.

The Friedlers getting ready to hike again.

 Owen was the trail blazer.
Lucas and Owen climbed up a little to find another small falls, Owen declared this one "climb-to-falls". He also found one he called "little Drizzle".

 Upper North Falls.

Owen and Lucas went further out, they took this self-portrait. Think their related?

Down more stairs to find North Falls.

It was loud behind the water fall.

Lucas and Owen are sitting on the bench, behind the water fall.

 Time to head back up.

 Lucas, Amy, and Owen.

We had an amazing time... maybe the best camping trip thus far. The weather was perfect, great hikes, good food, great company and Owen is declaring himself to be a good and helpful camper!

Silver Falls: night two

After our morning hike, we headed back to camp for lunch. Then walked to the day use area for some promised wet time. The water was COLD, but Owen didn't mind a bit.

When he was done, he was cold... so set up a place to warm up in the sun.

Back at camp, Owen and Mimi read a book
Lucas and Bob took a nap.

More map reading, while getting ready for dinner.

For a woman who says she can't cook, she makes a great hot dog!
 A man wearing many hats.

Owen helped to the dishes. He is quite the camper/hiker.
An evening walk around the tent sites and camper sites.
I think when the day was done, we walked about 5.5 miles. Owen didn't complain once about his tired legs... the adults on the other hand, all had sore joints and muscles.

Silver Falls: morning hike

We woke the next morning, and ate breakfast burritos. We needed some good breakfast food to go on a nice hike to South Falls. There are 10 waterfalls in the 9 mile loop at silver falls, we ended up seeing 4 of them...

When we started to hike, Owen noticed this small water fall, so we started naming each teeny tiny falls. This one is teeny falls.
 The real south falls.

"Trail falls". It goes through a culvert!

 Behind the falls

 Absolutely beautiful!
Amy and Owen looking at South Falls from below.
We continued on to Lower South Falls.

We got to go behind this one too!

Owen went slowly down the stairs, but bounded up them quickly... I'll admit I was just the opposite.

Lucas and Owen exploring the stream.

 "flat rock falls"

He loved being behind the falls

Our total hike for this one was about 3 miles. Owen did great, and amazingly, Lucas' ankle didn't hurt a bit! Maybe hiking is good for it!
