Camping: Marla's Camera

Here's my camera's view of our weekend camping adventures.

Hike nubmer one.
 Silly face Henry.
 Brothers!
The boys loved throwing rocks into Lost Creek.
This is by a beaver's dam.
Taking a rest in the camping chairs.

Lucas and Henry. Henry loves hot dog buns... not so much the hot dogs.
 Marshmallow roasting.
Hike number two: Little Crater Lake.
A small portion of the hike that Henry actually hiked.

 Henry did walk the planks...
KING OF THE MOUNTAIN! (or tree stump)

We stopped at Timberline Lodge. The boys loved Smokey
Mt. Hood. Pretty, but not as pretty without all the snow.
Hike number three: This one the boys FINALLY got to get wet! (and dirty!)

 Stream jumping fun!
On our second night, Lucas cooked yams, zucchini and hake (fish) over the fire. Owen was fascinated.
While they cooked, Henry and I played with chalk.
Post dinner reading by the fire. Lucas read a cooking journal to Owen.
Henry wanted held 70% of the time. This made for great opportunities for self-portraits.

Camping: Lucas' camera

We went camping at Lost Creek Campground in the Mt. Hood National Forest. We went for two nights and had a great time. Threre were a few mishaps, like I forgot the diapers by the front door (an easy fix with a 20 minute drive) and somehow Owen's shirts didn't get packed (who cares if it's dirty, just wear it again). But, besides those two things, we had a great time. We went on three hikes, played in dirt, and made some great memories.

These are all photo's Lucas.
Hike number 1: around our campsite was a 1/2 mile nature tour.

 "show off your dirty hands!"

From our campsite. Smoke mixed with a setting sun.
The next morning. The boys were COLD, the diapers may have been with the boys' jackets (bad mommy packer!!) but they coped with a morning fire and some snuggles.

Hike number 2: little crater lake. Absolutely beautiful
This hike was closer to two miles. Owen walked all but a few yards. Henry, he was carried all but a few yards...
Hike number 3: Little Zigzag falls. By far the best hike. Beautiful! Look at this strong kid!
Behind us is the falls. But a great family picture of all of us!

And of course, bikes at the campground. This was our YURT, no electricity, no frills, but two beds made all the difference.

Newport... Lucas' view

Here are a few more pictures of our adventures in Newport a few weeks back. These are from Lucas' camera.

 Sweet Owen at Devil's punchbowl.

 Me and my boys.
 Goofball Owen

They really enjoyed staying in a hotel. Here is our version of a continental breakfast.
