Today, Henry had his 16th lumbar puncture. 16 pokes into his spine to inject chemotherapy. We woke up early, and doggie joined up for our trip. It was early... the sun wasn't even up yet. But Henry was still quite happy.
When we arrived at day treatment, Henry went straight to the toys.Owen decided a little TV was a fine choice.
After waiting for a while, Henry was given propofol to sleep. The procedure only takes a few minutes, but he has to lay flat for 30 minutes afterwards. So, a drugged sleep with doggie is nice. Owen is always so protective of Henry when he sleeps. Owen picked out treats for him when he woke up (he couldn't eat this morning), picked out a new toy, and will always hold Henry's hand and kiss him.
His first word when he woke: lollipop. A promised treat when he was going to sleep.
You would never guess, given the picture, that the kid that just had an LP and chemotherapy is the one pulling the wagon. But, Henry is tough... and Owen's legs were tired.
Only one more LP for Henry. In 12 weeks, he will have his 17th and final LP.
