Another Outing

We took the boys for another wagon ride today. Owen was stylin' with his sunglasses and hoodie. (an outfit he wore all day). Henry opted for a more modest hat and mask. Finally... a smile! Our "Henry" is slowly showing himself again. He's starting to smile and play more and more... even though it still tires him quickly. It's so nice to see his "happy Henry" side. Tuesday is his last dose of chemo this round, then we wait until his bone marrow starts making cells again, then home, then back for round two!
Peek-a-boo!
My moon-face smiler!
Owen helped pull on the way back to our room.

Self-portrait. I love the "ambercrombie and fitch" look to him!
BYE!!

Lucas and Owen

Some quality daddy/Owen time at the hospital. smile!

Zoo

We took Owen to the zoo on Friday. The animals were all out and having a lot of fun, which made us have a lot of fun too. Looking at the penguins. (his favorite)
Who's the monkey?

Four weeks

Four weeks. It has been for weeks since Henry's diagnosis. Four weeks since our world was turned upside down. It's like a time warp; it seems both like an eternity and a blink.

Today he was really cranky. I'm sure partly due to chemo, partly due to his low WBC counts, but I think mostly because his cheeks are enormous! Steroid cheeks are amazing. His whole face is cheek. Add the small jaw, and it's quite impressive. Tomorrow is the last day of steroids, so hopefully his cheeks return to "normal".
(note pink rattle in left hand)
When Lucas got off work and switched me out at the hospital. Henry was feeling better with some oxycodone, and we got some good snuggle time.
Sleepy baby.

Owen

Owen is loving hospital visits. Not so much to see Henry, but to play with toys, eat Scooby-snacks, wear hats that were made for Henry, "brush" his teeth with swabs, and his new favorite is to watch Word World. "smile"
Watching Words.
And a brotherly shot of two brothers, just watching some cartoons.

speedbump

Henry got a fever today. A fever means infection. Since he has no white blood cells to fight off infection, this is pretty common in kids receiving chemo. The nurse said she was surprised it took this long. They were so fast getting blood cultures, and starting antibiotics. He was very cranky for a while, I would be too...

But finally he fell asleep. This picture is funny to me. From head to toe, this is why:
1. Crazy hair
2. Big steroid cheeks
3. hand behind his head like a model
4. other hand clutching onto his rattle
5. Belly handing out. (I swear the shirt fit this morning!)
6. diaper hanging out. (I took off his pants for a shot, then just left them off while they worked on getting urine for a culture)
7. bruised legs from all his shots.
8. Sweet baby. Strong amazing baby.
The oncologist called him a rock star today. I suppose if she saw this picture she would agree even more. Passed out rock star baby.

Wagon Fun

Yesterday, (was it just yesterday?) we took the boys on a wagon ride. We coaxed Owen into riding in the wagon for a bit, but he had to bring his "phone". Very important business to attend to.
"he knows the phone's a fake, right dad?"

Once in the gardens, Owen hopped out and wanted to pull Henry around. Pretty heavy, but Owen was determined.

At this point, the flat path has a VERY small incline, which I guess was too much for Owen. He let go, and Henry started to roll backwards... luckily, Lucas and I were right behind him to catch him.

Sweet boy.
