Tunnels

Owen got a fun tunnel for his birthday. He doesn't like to crawl INTO it yet, rather put toys in and watch them roll to the other side. I figure it's a teaching toy, learning about gravity and all. However, Lucas thought it would be a good idea to show him how to crawl through it... in retrospect, maybe not such a good idea.

Smiles

Just a couple cute pictures of the boys. Henry has just the biggest smile! Owen actually held this smile for a few seconds while I got my camera ready.

Kitchen

For Owen's birthday, we got him a little kitchen. It was a near divorce experience building it late at night, both Lucas and me with very little sleep... but it was worth it. He played with it for over an hour straight. Here he is showing off a mushroom.
He had to taste each and every piece of plastic food. Each taste, he would say, "delicious". (or at least it sounded like delicious!)

So happy! A boy and his skillet! Cooking... just like daddy!

More Birthday

Here's more birthday pictures. Owen holding his dinosaur balloon. And throwing the dinosaur... if you yank him down he floats back up!
Singing happy birthday! We had such a great birthday party! So many friends and family. And Lucas made great food (as always). Sweet boy in a wagon.
Sweet boy eating and holding prunes.

Happy Birthday Owen

Yesterday Owen turned two! We had a great day, started off with a little time in our bed.
(he really was having a good time, just got a funny face in this picture!)
In the morning, we went to Munchkin Playland, and tuckered him out. It was our master plan to get him to take a good nap. During nap time we prepared for his party and I made this cake:

Lucas went to Fred Meyer's to get a couple last minute things, including Owen's favorite balloon. He calls it his "dinosaur". He'll see it from a few isles away while we're shopping, and just start saying "dinosaur, dinosaur". So, it didn't matter to us that it was actually a happy graduation alligator... to us, it's a happy birthday dinosaur.
We had it ready at the bottom of the stairs, so Owen would see it first thing after his nap. He woke up a little cranky, and crying. We carried him out of his room, and he saw the balloon... he could only say, "wow! Whoa". For the rest of the day, he would show off his dinosaur. Even this morning, he brought down Penguin, and I swear he introduced the two of them, "penguin, dinosaur... dinosaur penguin. K"

729

Owen is 729 days today. In this measurement, this may not mean much... but in another measurement... tomorrow he turns two! TWO! Two years! How fast it has gone. People always say kids grow up in the blink of an eye... it's true.
Just last week he was my baby, curled up in my arms, bringing him home from the hospital. Just yesterday he was learning to roll over, stand, walk... I'm just scared to blink... tomorrow he'll be 18! He is only two, but it amazes me how much personality he has. How sweet he is. How much he has learned, and how quickly he learns new things. He is an amazing kid. I love him so much!

Yesterday: He loves coloring. His favorite color is brown. His favorite character is Elmo. His security item is Penguin. Tonight... He is playing hide-and-seek. He hides, until we say "bath time" then it's time to show us where he is!

No clothes

The boys were super cute tonight. Owen, in the bath... Henry NOT in the bath. Poor baby still screams bloody murder when in the tub... but seems happy enough to be naked. Owen, well, you can't even say the word bath without him running upstairs and climbing into the bathtub.

Makes me laugh

Maybe not the most attractive picture of Henry, but it just makes me laugh and laugh...

Sara's Wedding

Saturday was my friend Sara's wedding. It was out at Edgefield, and was beautiful. Owen got to stay home and play with Mimi... We took Henry and spent the night. Here is Sara dancing it up with the girls. Our friend Heather demonstrating the joys of an open bar.
Me and my friends, Mary and Marcy.
Henry was on top behavior. He was passed around from person to person... so sweet. It was a little tricky to keep my eyes on the baby... but he would just leave his drool mark, and I would track him down.

Cousins at play

This past weekend, Suzi and her family were in town for her brother-in-law's wedding. Our house was a pit stop... I love watching all of them play together. Owen's getting tucked in by Abigail. Only missing the youngest two. (Henry and Beatrix)
Boys watching Sesame Street.

Brothers at play

If both boys are in a good mood, I can pretend to get pictures of them together. Here they are a few days ago playing "pillow".

Poop

Big News today: Owen pooped on the potty. Or, in none parental language: Owen had a bowel movement while sitting on the toilet.

He had knocked on the bathroom door and said "potty"... so I put him on the little seat that goes over the normal toilet seat. Just today I asked him if he wanted to pull down his pants. The first time, he thought it was just silly. But on try number two, he had a number two! And peed... all over the place. All over him, the seat, the floor, me... we have to find a better way at peeing in the toilet. (how do you teach him to point DOWN!) But then, he farted, pushed and PLOP! He hopped down, waved and said bye-bye as his little poo swirled away! We were so proud! Maybe this is just a fluke... I don't know if I'm really ready to have a potty trained kid... but what an exciting day!

In other news, I saw Henry roll over! He had done it twice before, once while I was at work, once while I was at Costco, but tonight... I saw it! Tummy to back, and then quite irritated he was on his back! What big accomplishments in the Friedler household today!

Three and Two

To celbrate Henry's three month, and Owen two year birthdays, we went and got some professional photos taken. Even though it was a morning appointment, Owen was anything but cooperative. He's usually so happy-go-lucky, but he DID NOT want to be a part of any silly photo session. The photographers were so great, that in the end, we ended up with a lot of great pictures... and I was worried we wouldn't get any. But just look at these cuties!

Such sweeties... you'd never know that this was a mili-second of a kiss.

Cute Quote

Henry is officially off oxygen saturation monitoring during the day, but we continue to monitor him at night. While he hasn't alarmed in over two weeks, it's just safer since he is a tummy sleeper. We will continue to monitor him until he learns how to roll. So, every night, we tape the monitor to his foot before bed.

This afternoon, Owen found a piece of tape. He walked over, put it on Henry's foot and said: "nigh-nigh baby". So cute... and such a good helper!

First "real" haircut

Tonight, we took Owen for his first "real" haircut. By "real" I mean paid for. We have trimmed his hair, or rather hacked at it, a few times... but a moving target, plus sharp scissors is scary. Add in unruly double crowned, half curly, half straight hair... well, we decided we needed a professional. So, we went to a kid friendly haircut place "Pigtails and Crewcuts" which is by our house, and got Owen's hair tamed.

Owen got to sit in a taxi cab. Lucas, I mean, OWEN would have rather sat in the airplane, but the buckle was broken. Without even asking for it, Owen's bib had penguins all over it... perfect! Before: He got to play with a comb and have bubbles blown at him.
He did so good! Of course, he moved around a bunch, but she knew what she was doing. Only nicked herself once (seriously).
After:
So cute... makes him look like a little man!
Then home for dinner... he wouldn't smile for me... rather his haircut made him VERY thirsty.

Cute Boys

This morning we were watching a little Sesame Street... a morning tradition. Both boys just looked so cute... Here's Owen: "smile!" And here's Henry, speechless... the number of the day was eight!
(can you believe that Henry is three months old!)

Mother's Day Beach Trip

This morning we went to Cannon Beach. It was a beautiful blue, but cold day. Luckily, the awe of the beach outweighed the goose bumps Lucas and I had. We broke the cardinal rule of going to the Oregon coast: ALWAYS bring a sweatshirt. Owen didn't seem to mind, except he did spend much less time in the water and more time playing with sand. And really, as long as he had two sticks, he was a happy little man.
He walked a really long ways with his two sticks behind his back... so cute!

We all shared fish and chips, Owen's favorite part was the lemons. Hence lemon face:
Sweet Henry.
