Quotes

This morning, Owen asked for milk "milk is like MY coffee. It helps me wake up"

Today we asked Owen jokingly if he would like another brother or sister. Owen thought about it and replied. "no. I love my Henry. We should keep him forever"

Camping: day two

The next morning, we woke up. Lucas had already started a fire. Owen woke up and said, "I love waking up early to a fire!"

And bananas...

 Granola bars.

 Artistic shot by Lucas.
It's nice to see the boys enjoy camping so much!

Owen is literally watching water boil. (I need my morning coffee!)
 More bike riding.
This is what happens when it's Owen's turn on the bike. Henry throws a very normal, dramatic two year old temper tantrum. In the parking lot. He left a puddle of tears (I'm not joking)
 Owen just went riding...

 My camping boys
 Sticks and dirt.

Uh, yep... that's a dirty dirty hand. We cleaned him up a lot this trip!

We went for a morning hike on the Banks-Vernonia Trail. So pretty.

We had such a great time. Can't wait til the next one!

Camping: part one

This past Sunday, we went to LL Stub Stewart State Park and camped for a night. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin, which was nice enough to be a hotel. I said this out loud, so for the rest of our trip, and even today, Owen says we stayed in "hotel number 5" (our cabin was number 5).  We all had a great time.

Henry helped unpack his sleeping bag.

Luckily, our camp site came with sticks, rocks and dirt. We didn't need any other entertainment.
We went on a hike to a playground. It took us about 30 minutes each way. Later, a park ranger said the hike was only 10 minutes. Ah, 10 minutes without kids...
 Owen hiked the entire way.
Henry wanted carried. And would scream... SCREAM when put down.
But, the playground had a train play set... Henry wanted out of my arms then!

Owen was blowing the wishes away.

The view from the cabins from below.
Just a pretty staircase we found.

While Lucas and I got dinner ready, the boys enjoyed putting rocks through a hole in the picnic bench. At this point, I suppose I should mention that our oncologists told us we could go camping, as long as Henry didn't play in dirt and rub it over his face... he failed on the first half, but I think we passed on the second.
Henry helped push the wheelbarrow to go get wood. (Lucas and Owen are in the background)

Even when camping, Owen has style.
 Bike and scooter time.

 Marshmallows!
 S'more

Henry enjoyed roasting his own marshmallow.

Then some time kicking a ball.
Then two camp hosts put on a little evening entertainment. It was... um... put on with love. Bad songs, bad singing, bad stories told poorly, but we had fun all the same. Halfway through the 40 minute show, Owen said, "I'm tired" quite loudly...
 But, they did get stickers!

And Owen did pretend to sing along a little bit.
It took about 50 minutes for the kids to go to sleep. But once asleep, they slept through the night. And this time: no tears!
