Zoo in a backpack

After last years hiking fiasco, ending with Lucas and my sprained ankles, we decided to invest in a nice hiking backpack for Owen. We went to REI a couple nights ago and left with a maroon REI kid carrying backpack, with a backpack attached to that. After some tears getting him in and out of it a few times at home, adjusting to him, adjusting to Lucas, we decided to go on a smooth walk in the zoo. (I did push the stroller around just in case Owen started to hate the new digs)

It was a typical schizophrenic Oregon weather day consisting of rain, sun, cold, and warm... it was very nice. Here Owen is locked and loaded, just waiting for Lucas to put him on. (just another reason we love our new car!)

It's nice that Owen is a little more eye level, now I think he can actually see the animals, not just get pushed around by the animals.
