The Food

For Henry's birthday party, we had some yummy yummy food. Starting with some amazing cookies Allie had made by her cousin-in-law. Super Henry and orange ribbons for leukemia. They were amazing! (and made our mouths turn fun colors!)

I assembled an anti-pasta plate.

Abigail helped make red salt butter.

For the main course, the kids had boxed macaroni and cheese. The adults enjoyed a nine cheese macaroni made by Lucas. I think the adults enjoyed theirs more...

For dessert, Suzi made an amazing turtle cake for our Turtle.

We had such a great time celebrating.

Same birthday, different camera

Suzi brought her camera to the party too. Here are some pictures from her camera. Henry had his favorite: mac and cheese. He decided hands were quicker than a fork for this meal.

Brother's enjoying their new toys.

Make good wishes little Man.

Here is a link to his happy birthday video.

Henry's Birthday!

Henry celebrated his second birthday on Sunday, surrounded by family. Here he is opening some presents surrounded by cousins and Uncle Danny. Each cousin, and brother, watched and helped Henry open his gifts... and then plan on how each toy would be played with.

Bob-Bob and Mimi bought fake mustaches for the kids, trying to get all them on and all looking our way was a bit challenging. Here are a few tries.

Suzi made a turtle birthday cake, for our Turtle. He loved it.

Quote of the day

Owen is in the phase of "how do you..." Examples: How do you make pears? How do you make apples? How do you make strawberries dipped in chocolate dipped in peanut butter? How do you make polar bears? How do you make a hospital? How do you make a TV? Picture this is rapid succession, all day... every day. If I don't answer promptly, with great detail, he will ask it again. There's no getting out of it. So, I do. Again and again. I love his inquisitive mind.

Today, driving home from the beach, it was question after question again. I pretended to fall asleep... soon after, he fell asleep. When he woke up, his FIRST question was, "how do you make a bus?" Lucas laughed. Owen replied, "dad, I'm not being funny." Oh, he is funny...

Henry is TWO

Today was Henry's birthday. He started off the morning by sleeping in til 7:00. He ate three scrambled eggs and a bowl of cereal. Then, we watched his favorite show, "all about monster trucks". Thank goodness it's on Netflix, we watch it ALL the time. After we dropped Owen off at preschool, we went to Suzi's house. She gave him a hot wheels semi-truck. He didn't put it down. He loves big trucks. We went to the library where he found a book about monster trucks. It was tough to hold a truck and a book about trucks, but he managed.

After we picked Owen up from school, he ate a half box of macaroni and cheese. (it is the cheesiest). Then, a two hour nap. Then we played and played til Lucas came home... then played and played some more. We went out to dinner and laughed. We laughed all the way home, and up until his bed time.

It was just another day. A year ago, Lucas and I were amazed we survived his first year. Then, a year ago tomorrow our lives changed again. For so many days and months I just focused on his second birthday... and here it is... and here it has gone by. Another day. Another great, amazing day. What a year. What an incredible boy.

Beach

This morning started early. Henry and I went to the hospital, with the plan to start his next round of chemo. But, as always, Henry had other plans. This time they were good plans. His ANC was low (280) and Lucas got the day off work. So, we quickly decided we should go to the beach. We rushed home, grabbed our stuff and headed west.

We started off at lunch. Owen was showing off his "rock star" look. It's almost impossible to get three guys looking the same direction. This is close, plus Owen has his rock star look going on.

We started with sandcastles. Or, rather, I built and Owen destroyed sandcastles.

We played with trucks.

Went for walks.

And dug holes.

Lucas would dig. Owen would grab water in his shovel and fill the hole with water.

Henry loved to play with the wet sand.
The boys thought dipping their feet in was pretty fun.

Soon, it was more fun to sit in the water.

And bring more toys into the water.

I think a sand pedicure would go for big bucks!

A little more digging before heading home.

Not a bad way to spend the afternoon when we don't have to worry about chemo and steroids!
