Summer

We are starting to have glimpses of summer fun. Henry is now hooked up to TPN 16 hours, that gives us eight hours to play! This is Henry getting prepped for a bath. He gets his arm wrapped up to protect his PICC line.

Pretty pictures Lucas took of an evening walk around Hillsboro Library's duck pond.
Super Heroes... attached to the TPN.

Brothers

While Henry is hooked up to TPN, we are literally tethered together. The other day, he wanted to ride his bike. He hasn't had energy to ride his bike in weeks, so we jumped at the chance. His legs are still a little weak, so Owen helped push Henry, while I walked beside them carrying the TPN. Henry is very lucky to have Owen as a brother. And Owen is very lucky to have Henry as his.

I hope they remember this

Owen

When we are in the hospital with Henry, it gives us lots of time to spoil Owen. We switch of every other night, who's with Henry in the hospital, and who's with Owen. We take him on dates to parks, movies, coffee, or restaurants. Trying to make him understand that he is just as important to us. I love my time with just Owen. He's a remarkable kid.

Lucas took him to the 53rd street park, and took some great pictures.

Pathetic

We have a handful of pictures of Henry when he looks really sick. Lucas took couple on his cell phone, when he was first diagnosed with cancer, when he was intubated. I have a hard time looking at those pictures. It brings back so many memories, both good and bad. I suppose we try to take more pictures of when he looks better... who want to be reminded of how sick and pathetic your child looks. But, I realize that this is his life right now... and if we want to remind him on a daily basis as he grows up how much he owes us... I should have a few pictures of pathetic Henry in here too. How else can I tell him I won't buy him a car, because when he was three, he made us both age 10 years?

This is our first day in PICU, on hospital stay three this summer. Still sweet, but so sad.

Owen and Henry

Lucas and his parents tell a story, that when Lucas was little, he would run around the house wearing his superman cape, always asking if it was flying up in back. Fast forward thirty years, and Owen runs around the house, wearing his superman cape, asking if it's flying up in back.
Owen decided to add a running jump off a stool to actually take flight. He was so happy to look like he was flying.

This is a sweet picture of Henry in Seaside taking a bath. He looks so small in such a big tub.

A few beautiful shots Lucas took while we were at Seaside.

Summer park

Between hospital stays one and two, we went to the park. It was hot, so Owen stayed in the shade. Henry didn't feel well, so he stayed pretty close to me... so it was a short trip to the park. But, we tried.
