It's happened

When I was pregnant with Owen, the taste of chocolate went out the window. I hated the taste, but other sweets were still "in".
As of last Friday, all sweets are out! I thought maybe it was just for the day... but it's still going, and it's been almost a week.
  • ice cream-out
  • the new container of Quik chocolate powder I just bought last Wednesday- out
  • OJ- on the border of in/out
  • fruit- in
  • rice crispy treats (a staple treat with Owen)- OUT

I am sad. Not that I need sweets, but it's a perfect little snack and indulgence. No more. Last night, I craved cucumber with oil and vinegar. What is this child doing to me!? What's next pickles and peanut butter?

Beer Commercial

Yesterday, we met a friend for dinner, she has 11 month old twin girls. So, picture this:
Owen is at the head of the table, sipping his sippy cup.
There is beer on the table, football on TV, pizza on the plates and twin girls at the other end of the table.

It was just like a baby beer commercial.

Munchkin Land

Yesterday, Lucas and I took Owen to Munchkin Land. We met up with Patti and Ben, none of us knowing what really to expect. It was a great little play land for the kids, with coffee and treats for the grown-ups. Even better, because Owen isn't walking yet, it was a little bit cheaper!

At first, Owen was quite cautious... but then he realized that he could climb and crawl and scream and have a great time. And he did!

Owen and a Beaver. (and OSU future?)

Owen in a little boat.

He conquered a bridge... at first needing quite a bit of assistance. (partially because I was nervous) but then he would climb on his own, just needing help down.

Ahh... a duck.

Is in a U of O future?
A big fish... I don't know what school has a big fish as a mascot.... anyone?
Owen climbing, with parental hands nearby.

It looks like Owen may be a little sea sick!
We were there about an hour. Owen and Ben played really well together, until the last five minutes. Then Owen lost all coping skills... and Ben touched him. It was all over.

"I'm done playing now..."

Shots, Shmots

I love that getting Owen's immunizations doesn't phase him a bit... Sure he cries from the shock of a needles stabbing his thigh, but within a few moments, he's fine again. So far, cross your fingers, he has never had a "bad" reaction, and he'll just play and play for the rest of the day as if nothing ever happened that morning.

Here he is, very proud of himself that he's pushed his slide and box right where he needs them.
A self portrait of me, Owen and the Mariner Moose. Doug bought the moose for Owen when he was still in utero... Owen hugs and kisses Moose daily.
How do you get your Moose to hold a block and a book on top of his head? Push them all down the slide of course. (the block is hidden by the book)

15 months

We just got back from Owen's 15 month check up... here are his newest stats:

31 7/8 inches tall (still in the 75th %)
22lb 2 oz (which drops him to 25th%)

Still tall and skinny, but, he's lost weight... which Dr. Snyder says is not uncommon, probably due to increased activity, and he said "Owen's probably eating less". This last statement is not true. Owen eats and eats and eats. Currently his favorite food is tomatoes. Still nothing to worry about, just keep an eye on.

Owen also has 4-6 weeks to learn to walk, or else maybe we'd start to worry a bit. Right now, we're chalking up his unwillingness to walk on his fear of falling. I'll second that motion. I have a cautious kid...nothing wrong with that!

Two shots to his thigh, now, except for flu shots, he's done until kindergarten!

Growing up

Here's Owen in the bath last night... I just love that little face! And here's my smiley baby. Look at all those teeth! (currently he's working on his bottom molars!)

Block Box

Owen loves pushing around his box full of blocks. What he loves even more than that, is dumping them all out. Today, he discovered his next joy, climbing into the empty box. It took him a few minutes to figure out how to get in, without it tipping over. But when he did, he was happy as a clam (assuming clams can be happy).

Here he is, seeing if the lid can cover him up. Chillin' with some toys.
And seeing how many toys could join him in the box. (look at how long his hair is getting! Someone needs a haircut.)

And, with our washing machine out of commission, the laundry is starting to pile up. Owen doesn't seem to mind... just another mountain to conquer.
