Questions

Owen had a day of questions. He asked a LOT of questions. Here are a few:
  • How does your body work?
  • What if you didn't have a brain?
  • Where is Green Lantern from?
  • What are his powers?
  • What if the earth spun faster?
  • What if you breathed in potato chips in space?
  • How big was Mt. Rainier before it exploded?
  • What do you mean you don't know?
  • How many animals died from Mt. Saint Helens explosion?
  • Why is Darth Vader bad?
  • What do jails look like?
  • Why do you go to jail?
  • What if a kid was bad?
  • Can you drink water in jail?
  • Why don't boys have boobs?
  • Where do babies grown?
  • Does it hurt when babies come out?
  • How many skin knees have I had?
  • How do eyelashes grow?
  • What happens if it's too cold?
  • Why can't we go to the sun?
There were more... many many more. His inquiring mind is both amazing and exhausting. But, I love his little brain. I love trying to keep up with all his questions.

Seattle

On Saturday, we decided to take an impromptu trip to Seattle to see Heather and Jen, and have some fun away from home. Owen gathered Pengu, Zebra and Ziggy (the iguana) and we headed north.
Owen loved playing with a bunch of Luke's toys.
We took the Duck tour of Seattle. It was a lot of fun. Lucas and Heather.
Lucas and Owen.
Luke enjoying the view of Lake Union.

 Owen loved the ride.

 It was very pretty.

On Sunday morning, we went to a cool park.

 Just a pretty tree.

It was good to go to Seattle. It reminded me a lot of Henry. Seattle will always remind me of Henry, he loved it there.  But, we purposely avoided the monorail and the Great Wheel... I'm not ready to do those yet. I realize that we have to keep doing things that remind me of Henry... both good and bad. It started "easy" like trips to the grocery store, or to the zoo. We continue to check more and more off the list. Lucas took a MAX ride tonight and said it was horrible. I'm still dreading going to the beach. But, Henry lived his life fully. Played hard when he could, and I will continue to follow that lead. We owe that to him. We owe that to us.

Park and Zoo

Last Thursday, we went to the zoo with Michelle, Paige and Presley. It was a beautiful, COLD day.

The alligator was more active than I've ever seen.
 Three giraffes, Paige and Owen.

Camping Trip

We went camping, or "glamping" (glamour camping), last Saturday. It was a lot of fun. We started with lunch at Helvatia Tavern.

And then drove the 30 minutes to Stubb Stewart Campground. They have BEAUTIFUL cabins there... so while it was quite chilly outside, the warmth inside the cabin was lovely. Owen and Pengu were very excited to sleep in their "worm sleeping bag".
It was beautiful there... a great day to play catch.

 A family photo.

A glimpse of Owen going up the stairs to the cabins

We played games and worked on a little homework too.
We walked up to watch the sunset.

 My new favorite picture!

 Beautiful
 Owen was directing the sunset.

 My hiker, leaving his trail.

Owen was so helpful setting up camp. He also learned that camping includes a lot of waiting...
But while waiting, he got to play with a stick. Boys are pretty easy to make happy. The stars were beautiful at night. It's one nice thing about winter camping, the stars are out a lot earlier than in the summer... Owen loved all the stars.

We had a great time. I'm excited for our next trip.

There were a troop of boy scouts camping in the cabins too. They took up about eight cabins. Boy scouts and cabin camping seemed a little silly to me. But the kicker was when they set up an outdoor screen and watched Star Wars. This is a different kind of camping from when my dad was a boy scout.

Bowling

Owen finished "bowling school" at school, so was rewarded with free bowling passes. (AKA, bring your child in for free bowling, while we charge adults a lot to bowl with them!) It was fun, and Owen had a great time.

 After his strike.

Our combined total: 235. yes, that's all three of our scores combined. Owen got a 99.

Pump it up.

On the first day of winter break, Henry died. On the last day of winter break, we did something fun. We took Owen to Pump it UP. We met up with Paige, Presley and Robert.  Owen had fun, and I will admit, so did we.

Christmas

Life goes on... Owen woke up SUPER excited on Christmas morning. Lucas and I dreaded the day, but with Owen's love and enthusiasm, we had a good, quiet Christmas.
We started at our house.
Then went to my mom and dad's house.

Owen got a "sorcery set". Hours and hours of entertainment.

 Magic wand.
