Beach Vacation

We decided to take a quick vacation to Seaside. Two nights, two kids, two adults. We had a great time, even if Henry was still on steroids for the first 36 hours.

Our first stop: the Columbian Cafe in Astoria for some delicious toast (and other food). This is Owen's "vacation smile". Somehow, he wouldn't smile unless I told him to "vacation smile".

Next stop: Maritime Museum.

The boys had a great time running around and looking at boats.
All the boys listening to stories of the sea.
Next, the beach. Both boys wanted to start playing about five feet into the sand. I don't think they even noticed the ocean. Easier clean-up. Still, lots of fun.

Sand Angel.

Henry was more interested in putting sand in Owen's coat than a picture.
We went to Ecola State park for a hike. As soon as we stepped out the car, the wind suggested otherwise. As Owen stated, "today is not a very good day for a hike". So, we took a few pictures, and hopped back in the car.

To warm up, we went to Cannon Beach for hot cocoa.
Owen used a straw.

Henry gulped his down. (WARNING NEXT PICTURE IS GROSS!)
To fast in the mouth, out the nose it came!
Next some more pictures.

Back to the beach.

Bath time. Yes, with sunglasses
Puddle splashing! They got more wet in this puddle than the ocean!

They boys watched this seagull for about 20 minutes. They would laugh when he opened his mouth, and squawk at in when he would squawk. It was very cute (and cold) to watch.
We had a great time. The last two hours were a little rough... tired kids and tired parents. But we all had a great time. Can't wait til the next one!

Sunsets

Lucas took some beautiful pictures of the sunset at the beach this weekend.

Spring Fun

We took advantage of a spring day and played with some wheels. Wagons and Bikes. Henry loved going for a ride.
I think Henry enjoyed riding the tricycle more than Owen.

silly videos

Funny video, the other video is having technical difficulties.... I'lll try again.

Mr and Mr Spaghetti

We started steroids again toaday. And, while I don't think the steroids have kicked in yet, Mr. Spaghetti has returned. Henry ate, and played with his spaghetti. And while I can't blame either boy, they fed off each other to play the "who can make mom laugh more".

Quote

Last night, getting ready for bath, Lucas was quizzing Owen on his body parts. Owen, of course, got them all right... but when Lucas asked where his tushy was, Owen replied, "back there, someone put it on backwards." We laughed, then were informed that that WASN'T funny.

Clinic

We had an appointment for chemotherapy today. So, we all went to the new hospital. When Owen saw the big kite on the building he said, "we are almost to new hospital!!" We started with a quick visit to our chemo nurse friends, and the unit formerly known as unit 35, now just the fourth floor. When we were there, Owen told Lucas that he had a secret to tell him. So, Lucas bent down and Owen told him that we needed to go to clinic, because that's where they would fix Henry.

New toys to play with.

Henry is amazing when it come to getting a huge needle shoved into his port. He just sits back... he's calm enough we even "let" a nursing student access him. He held his monster truck the entire time.

Goldfish and milk will make Owen quite happy... for a while at least.

The boys checking out the new exam table.

All of Henry's labs looked great, so he got a "quick dose" of Vincristine. Today we start a week of steroids. Our next appointment: FOUR WEEKS!!!

Adventure

On Friday, we took advantage of the nice day and went on an adventure. We rode MAX to Washington Park and went for a little hike around the Vietnam memorial. Henry carried a truck with him most the way. He walked most the way too, but occasionally needed a ride on his dad.

While walking, Owen needed to "take a rest" and sat down on the trail. After about two minutes, he stood up quickly and stated, "something is FREAKING me out!!" Upon closer inspection, he was sitting next to a worm. We watched it slither for a bit, he didn't want to leave it.

Henry found a stick, and started practicing fencing with the trees.

It's the best picture we got of the two of them.

Henry will do anything Owen does. Including trying to balance up on a rock.

A little help from Lucas

A rest on a bench.

Mountain man!

Self-portrait

Henry got quite tired after our walk, and took a nice little rest on Lucas.

Owen loved the train.
