Zoo Lights: trip one

Tonight we ventured to the Oregon Zoo for zoo lights. We love going, and I'm sure this is the first of a few trips to the festivities. We went with our friends Robert and Michelle, and their girls Paige and Presley. The forecast called for cold and dry. They got half of it right. It was wet and cold. But we bundled up and played anyhow. Rain wasn't going to stop us! Henry just rode along in the back of the stroller. Staring at most of the lights, but occasionally he would break into a great smile.
Owen had a great time too. Pointing at the lights and animals. When it was time to leave, he said good bye to all of the lighted animals... so sweet.

Artistic photos by Lucas. Christmas green.
Holiday Red.
We had a great time. Who wants to go with us next? Owen's already planning the next trip to the zoo. "zoo again. zoo gain?" all the way home.

Quote of the day

On Thanksgiving:
Lucas: Owen, I am very thankful for you. What are you thankful for?
Owen: (a look of ponder) Raisins.

He does love raisins...

More Pajama Time

This afternoon, we all got in our pajamas and played. And played and played and played...
First, a series of photos I'll call: "Upside down baby"

Henry loved it!
Next some dinosaur play. Here, Owen had a T-Rex and a velociraptor posing with Lucas.

Mr. Turtle and his daddy. (such a handsome pair)

Me and my boys.
Me and Henry. Just look at Henry's hair... so cute!
Owen showing off his velociraptor. He looks so grown up! (Owen, not the velociraptor)

At Play

Henry likes crawling into any bin. Today, Owen decided to sit on top of it. It made both of them laugh and laugh. They actually played together for almost FIVE minutes!!

SNOW!!

We woke up this morning to a bit of snow. As soon as Owen saw it, he started saying "play snow!" So, after breakfast, and bundling up both kids, we ventured out. This is what I saw on my car, left by Lucas. An amazing shot of both boys. Owen was all smiles. I couldn't get Henry to smile... even with all of my tricks. He must not like the snow as much as Owen.

Or maybe it was that the chin strap was impossible to use... (some day he'll have a chin for a chin strap!)
Owen had a great time, even if there wasn't THAT much snow to play with.
He can always drum.
FINALLY! When I said it was time to go inside, I got the smile!

Bath Time

Bath time tonight, was a bubble bath. Or as Owen called it "snowflakes". While he looks "model-esque" here, he was really watching Lucas carry in Henry. Owen normally refuses to bathe with Henry... but tonight was the night we forced the issue. While he tried to climb out of the bath very quickly, he finally decided he'd rather stay in the tub... as long as Henry didn't touch him.
"If I poop in the tub, Owen will probably never bathe with me again... right?"
Success! Two kids in the tub.

Henry liked it so much he drooled!
Owen liked it so much he showed me his teeth!

Random Pictures

Here's a random assortment of pictures from the past day or two.
Owen "hiding" a giraffe in his shirt. Me and Mr. Turtle.
Penguin as a pillow, a snack, some water, and a comfortable position, and Dinosaur Train on TV... perfection.

"ride 'em cowboy!" Henry will bounce and bounce and bounce and bounce... (please take note of the "Oshel gum smile")
Mr. Handsome.
Owen showing off Penguin's "hat".
Owen's smiles makes Henry bounce higher... which makes Owen laugh more... which makes Henry bounce higher. It's a great cycle to watch.
An almost naked Henry and "snowflake penguin".

Not per the directions

I'm pretty sure the sticker on the packaging said I shouldn't put kids in the container... but what if the kid puts HIMSELF in the container?

My Son

While he doesn't quite get the "how to" of drinking coffee, Henry will crawl across/over/through any obstacle to get to my coffee mug.

Holiday Card Failures

As the holidays are quickly approaching, yesterday I started on the task of taking pictures for the card. Problem: every time I ask Owen to smile, he squints his eyes and puckers his lips. EVERY TIME!
So, here I tried, "show me your teeth." "where's mommy's tongue?"

"where's your orange?"
"smile normal..."

"show me your eyes."
Sigh... maybe today... or maybe I'll just pick one of these as a snapshot of this years smile.

Happy Henry

Henry is such a happy little guy. His smile gets even bigger, if that's possible, when he's standing up. He can't get up by himself, but once propped against something, he's pretty stable. (bonus points to identify the TV show on the TV)

Self Portrait

Henry has fallen in love with this plastic container... almost as much as Owen loved his ladle. An amazing self-portrait.

Laundry Model

Owen took the chance to climb on top of my clean laundry to strike a couple poses.

Carseats and Haircuts

Yesterday we got Henry's big car seat installed. He looks so grown up in it. He just laughed the entire time he was riding in it. Notice the long hair? We did too... So we went and got the boys a hair cut. Henry's first. Owen's third.
Owen tried to help a bit by combing his hair.

Just look how long his hair is/was. We still left it a little long, it's just a little more tame.

Somehow, all of the finished haircut photos didn't turn out... so tomorrow. He looks so grown up! They both do.
