Cannon Beach

We went to the beach today with our friends Michelle and Robert, and their twin girls Paige and Presley. It's nice all having young kids who play next to each other nicely, who all wake up early, and who all have about one and a half hours of playtime in them before they need lunch and a nap. We all had a great time, and I really hope to do it many times this summer. I think this is the first time Henry has enjoyed the beach, he stayed awake the entire time!

Here's Owen and his two favorite sticks of the day. Taking the sticks to the water (they float!)

He wore these silly sunglasses for over half an hour!

Showing off his seashell. It actually took place of a stick for a little while... then the stick found it's way back to Owen's hands.
Dad and son.
With a diaper on, Owen didn't notice his bum getting wet.
Cute toes.
Henry got his first dip into the cold Oregon waters today. I think he liked it more than he likes his baths. Maybe we should just bathe him in COLD salt water.

Owen watching the first dunk.
Two sticks AND a rock! Self-portrait.
Family picture. Three out of four looking at the camera. Notice the sand goatee.
We laid Henry on the blanket and he just laughed and laughed and laughed. You can even see the tiny bit of white tooth he's been so cranky about making!

One last close-up of Henry in the water. Just look at all that hair! (and I don't mean Lucas!)

Zoo

On Thursday, my friend Sara and I took the boys to the zoo. The zoo is a whole new experience now that Owen runs around. Gone are the days that he's content to be pushed around in the stroller and go where I want him to go. We had fun though... it was a beautiful zoo day. Henry rode in the stroller, he mostly had fun... but enjoyed it more when Sara carried him around for a while. Here he is donning his hat that is too big... and that little chin strap needs a chin to support it...

Sleeping boys

Henry took his first nap lying on his back. He had fallen asleep in my arms, so I took advantage of trying this new sleeping position. It would by o-so-nice if he learned that he could sleep on his back, rather than rolling onto his back and then screaming. Or, maybe he should just learn how to roll from his back to his tummy. Never the less, here he is... sleeping on his back... And here he is 10 minutes later!
Meanwhile, Owen and I were walking up stairs to get him in bed. He decided that the stairs would be a fine spot. He had Penguin and a "blanket" (really a washcloth). "Nigh Nigh"

Sesame Street

This is the boys watching Sesame Street this morning. Henry would rather watch Owen. Owen would rather watch Elmo...with Penguin and carrot. It's serious business.

Then and Now

Here's Owen at about 4.5 months. Here's Henry. They actually have the same onsie on, Henry's is just hidden by his shirt. They have the same nose, and you can tell they're related, but they look so different to me. However, they are both quite handsome!

To the Park

We walked up to the park today... well, I walked, the kids were pushed in the stroller. Owen really wanted to swing. At least, he kept saying, "swing swing"... but he didn't want to actually SWING, rather, he wanted to put pieces of bark in the swing and push it. When I tried to put him in the swing he screamed "NO". Alright, push bark around if it makes you happy! Grabbing more bark for the swing.
While he looks very intense in the photo, Henry just cooed away while chillin' in the stroller.
I think his eyes look a little greener today.

Sink

Owen loves playing in the sink. He will go to the chair, say, "push. sink. apron." and off we go... we push the chair to the sink, don an apron (made by Suzi) and play for at least 15 minutes. Spoons, bowls, funnels... the options are limitless.

Afternoon Walk

We went for an afternoon walk today. And by walk, I mean we went to the mailbox and back, and it took us 45 minutes. Here are the boys getting ready by having a quick stare down. A little "Elvis" smirk from Henry.
Walks always take a little longer when you have to keep track of dinosaur and onion.

Owen hiding an onion behind his back.
So, it looks like he's "taking care of business" on the tree, but really, he was just telling me how heavy the tree was, then quickly turned around for a quick picture.

Handsome

I just love this little guy. Do you think he'll keep his blue eyes?

Time to Color

Owen loves to color. Anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Yesterday after dinner, he grabbed his easel paper, two crayon, and took up camp in Henry's bouncy chair. Voila, color time. I will admit that most of the pictures on the paper were NOT drawn by Owen. He's good, but not quite up to stick figures.

excersaucer

We brought out the excersaucer yesterday for Henry. At first, we thought it would be too big for him... but we were wrong... He LOVED it! At least 14 minutes of entertainment.
Even more fun when Owen woke up and "played" with him.

Shameless Plug

Lucas started his very own blog today. It's located on the "blogs I like to look at". Or, it's called: lucaslunchbox.blogspot.com

It was part of the deal of us getting a new camera... If you take food pictures, you have to write about them too! I'm so proud.

Just like Mom

mmmm... coffee.

Just like Dad

For Owen's birthday, Robert and Michelle got Owen a little BBQ... so he could be just like dad. Since the sun finally started to shine, we let him play with it for the first time this weekend. He thought it was great fun! "How's the propane tank?" (no worries, no propane under the grill)
Just like dad.

Flippin' burgers.
