Big News

I put Owen down on his back, he rolled to his tummy. Old trick, but it never gets old. Then, I looked away for a moment, and he was on his back! My kid rolls over! BOTH WAYS!

Boise Day Two

Owen is cheap entertainment for his cousins. Abigail, Zachary and Seth love giving him all the soft "baby approved" toys. For all of the commotion around him, Owen would just focus on one toy, this time a familiar toy that we have at home, just in different colors. I think Owen is nice practice for the new baby.

If we were in town until Friday, we could have all the cousins playing together. I'm leaving a half an hour before Jill and Kate get into town! It's a nice "baton pass" for Baby Watch 2008, but still sad we are so close, but not close enough.

What?!

A funny picture I thought I'd share... anyone have a good caption for it?

Boise Day One

Owen I made it safely to Boise yesterday... we are officially on Baby Ryerson Watch 2008. It was just a little challenging traveling alone with Owen... the most annoying part was when I had him SOUND asleep getting on the plane... and then the flight attendant made me take him out of the sling. WHY?! WHY?! WHY wake a sleeping baby, who would have slept the entire one hour flight? He tried his best to be happy, but he was a little cranky! He did pretty good last night too, not bad for sleeping in another baby's crib! Above is from his nap today.

Below is Owen at the Airport. We flew on a CRJ-700. He liked it a lot.

Here Owen is with Lucas, right before Lucas dropped us off at the airport. They are just both so handsome!

music

The new toy plays over 30 songs, including a little Mozart, chopsticks, the "knuckle song" (played on the black keys on the piano), Twinkle Twinkle, and my favorite: the theme song to Police Academy (the movie)... There's a blast from the past!

Copy Cat

After seeing Kate enjoy her "table toy", and getting a vote of approval from Suzi, we decided Owen needed a noisier, more interactive toy. So, off to Babies R Us we went to find the least annoying, coolest toy. We found this:

Owen likes the piano keys the best, and makes the cutes face when the music starts. It will also teach him (and me) a little bit of Spanish! It will stand up in the future, but for now, it's a great floor toy.
Just a cute picture of Owen discovering Lucas' knee... "Will mine be fuzzy in the future too, dad?"

funny quote

I'm at work, and just had this conversation with a confused hard of hearing patient:

Me: DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE AT RIGHT NOW?

Pt: Did I know you're an African?

I love my job.

great eater

Owen loves to eat... and he's a pro at it too, especially when Lucas makes the "airplane noises". I really like the final frame of the video.

Happy little man

Sorry it's been a few days since a photo update... but here he is. We're still working on rolling from tummy to back... but he's an "old pro" from the back to tummy. I think he may be working on a tooth, last night while I was at work, he was up most the night with Lucas... Biting his hand, crying and drooling like it was going out of style! I can't feel anything, but I know it's there somewhere! Today he's a little happier, hopefully he sleeps tonight.

We went to the farmer's market this morning, Owen fell asleep on the journey. I love that his right hand is holding the car seat.

What NOT to say

Last weekend we were cleaning the house. I had my hair pulled back in a pony tail, but my hair isn't really long enough for a pony tail, so lots of hair was falling out. I'll admit, it wasn't pretty, but I was cleaning. You just can't look cute when you're cleaning cat puke off the carpet.

I came downstairs, and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I just started to laugh.

"Lucas" I said, "Who do I look like?"

GUYS, STOP right here. When a woman asks this question, unless your response is "a beautiful princess" DO NOT answer! It's a trick question! And since I know I didn't look like a beautiful princess, just say: I don't know... who?

DO NOT SAY, as Lucas said... without missing a beat... "the Crypt Keeper".

Luckily I have a sense of humor. I was thinking I looked more like the girl nerd from "Revenge of the Nerds." You know the girl who sings while playing the accordion 'so I say I gotta be free... so I say I gotta be me...'

We got a good laugh out of it, and good to know for next Halloween I can pull off the Crypt Keeper.

Meet Porter James

Nick and Kasi added another baby boy to their family on November 8th. It'll be an easy birthday to remember because it was also Lucas and my 5th anniversary. Can you believe it's been FIVE years!?

Porter James is quite cute and, while he did weigh 9lb 5 oz, he's very small.

Finally

Owen finally rolled over. He started on his back, then was on his tummy. Which made him MAD and ANGRY. So, I rolled him back to his back. Then he rolled over onto his tummy... which made him MAD and ANGRY. Then he fell asleep.

I think he was too tired to see the milestone that today is! The places he can get to now! Maybe this afternoon he'll be more excited about his accomplishment.

I am very pleased and proud... I think I need to baby-proof the house.
